Happy Birthday to ArKaMatElly!!!

What a way to ring in October while saying goodbye to September! Even with school starting and everyone’s CRAZY schedules, everyone managed to gather on Sunday night to celebrate birthdays for Ariana, Kathleen, Matt, and Melly. We had the usual barrage of food, drinks, and sweets (all made possible by our Facilities & Resources Team) and everyone had a good time just catching up, playing Taboo or shooting some hoops in the Farana Center. Before our celebration began, we had ‘momma and daddy birds’ help feed their ‘baby birds’ in a frantic marshmallow relay race. Then, keeping with the marshmallow theme, we teamed up with each other to see who could sort out all eight different marshmallow shapes from a box of Lucky Charms. How many of you already do this when you eat cereals with marshmallows?

Great job by our band & choir on Sunday! Fr. Bob mentioned that a parishioner totally dug our acappella version of Amazing Grace. See? Who said we couldn’t pull off traditional songs and still have fun? 🙂

Although this Irish blessing was used at the memorial mass for Fr. Mike O’Connor, it is also appropriate for our celebration of Ariana, Kathleen, Matt, and Melly.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children’s children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you

  1. that is a very embarrassing photo of me . . .

  2. the new banner photo is a ugly picture of me. i liked the other one better, much more yoof groop-ish

  4. getting a little emotional there?

  5. So I was walking out of the Faith Formation meeting today when out of the corner of my ear, i heard Nancy Royal teaching the students ‘God is Good’. I instinctively (as in gag reflex) yelled out ‘All the time’. They all turned around and thought I was crazy. And then… i did it again when she said ‘All the time’. Lol. So much for next year’s recruits.

  6. *sniff*

    I’m so proud!

  7. wait, she was teaching them to yell ‘God is good’ – ‘All the time’? or were they doing something serious, and you made a crazy/funny diversion?

  8. She was teaching them the God Is Good – All The Time call and response. But i just yelled it instinctively as i was almost out the doors of Farana. ha.

  9. I’m forewarning you with a *nerd alert* here but I just noticed that although I listed the birthdays in chronological order (Ariana, Kathleen, Matt, and Melly), they also happen to be in alphabetical order as well.

Thas right. Dun mess wit me.

  10. YAAAy for alphabeticalization!!

  11. Is that even a word? Alphabetize? Alphabetization?

  12. I bet that every “big” word that kathleen uses is made up

  13. @Masheik:

    Sorry, couldn’t help myself…. 😀

  14. i’m crying . . .

  15. Umm…. that last post from me was a shot at Masheik…

  16. Did we ever find out who God is?… I’m soo confused..

  17. i know who god is

  18. Who’s jonathan?
