Tim Lincecum wins the NL Cy Young Award!!!

How about that! If you told me at the beginning of the season that Tim Lincecum (5’11”, 160 lbs) would win the Cy Young award on a team that would end up going 72-90 I would’ve said you were crrrrrrraaaaazzzzzyyyy.  Goes to show how much I know about baseball. Lincecum joined Mike McCormick as the only other San Francisco Giant to win the award. Lincecum finished the season with a record of 18-5 and an ERA of 2.62. He led the NL with the most strikeouts with 265. Lincecum led the league in winning percentage (.783), his ERA was second in the league, and was third in the league in innings pitched (227). Read more about this remarkable 24 year old ‘kid’ in only his second year in the majors.

In other MLB news, he Rockies have agreed to send Matt Holliday to the Oakland As.

And the Niners suffered a nail biting defeat to the potential division winning… Cardinals?!

yay for Matt Holliday coming to the A’s! Boo for trading Street and others for him.

  3. I didn’t know they traded Huston Street…hmm….

Me thinks Holliday is solid, but how old is he now?

  4. the niners game was definately depressing… although they lost on a really silly play…

    1. Frank Gore will beat anyone to the outside, why run him down the crowded middle
    2. Spike the ball, take 30 seconds to set up a real play instead of a fake spike and run down the middle
    3. A better play would be a play action pass to Vernon Davis who is a beast

anyways… it was good to see how when Vernon Davis took out this linebacker on a block… Singletary took him aside and said “thats how u play football”

although playoffs are kinda far away this season, hopefully singletary starts to bring this team to some success with his crazy, yet inspiring antics

as for the lincecum… it was truly a good pick because the fact that he was 18-5 with minimal offensive support on a sub .500 team is amazing

  5. i love singletary so far, i hope he stays.

  6. @Kathleen:

That guy is nuts. But not in a good way. I think his outspoken style is more suited for high school or college. At the pro level he’s being mocked by his counterparts.

  7. i dunno, i feel like if he’s crazy, it’s in a positive and at least sincere way

  8. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH

  9. @Kathleen:

Yeh. He is known to be brutally honest. But as you know, and sometimes unfortunately so, a lot of being a leader or coach is handling the politics involved.
