Our annual Good Friday Living Stations of the Cross

Every year the youth (8th grade – high school) of our parish community present their interpretation of the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday with real live actors. This year is no different; we’ll be hosting this devotional prayer on Good Friday starting at 12:00pm noon. There will be prayers, reflections, and meditative music that will hopefully enhance your Triduum experience.

So… if you have the day off from school, come join us! And, although I would never suggest that you should ever miss school, I’ve heard that Good Friday is a valid excuse at public schools as a religious holiday. YMMV.

We’re looking for people to

  • Write their own personal prayer for a station of their choice
  • Write their own personal reflections for a station of their choice
  • Narrators (readers)
  • Actors
    • Jesus
    • Mary, Mother of God
    • Mary Magdalene
    • Simon of Cyrene
    • Caiphas/Pontius Pilate
    • Veronica
    • Roman Sentries
    • Women of Jerusalem
  • Ushers (there is a collection at the end)
  • Powerpoint slideshow (creating the slideshow & running it)

Schedule:

Meet for a rehearsal on Palm Sunday, March 24th, after the 5:30pm mass – 6:45pm – 8:00pm
– Dinner will be served afterwards

Final rehearsal is on Good Friday from 9:00am – 11:00am
Lunch will be served from 11:00am – 11:45am

Please be part of our prayer activity and help us keep this tradition alive at Resurrection Parish. If you know of Resurrection School 8th graders or Faith Formation 8th graders who might be interested please share this with them. The community really embraces our depiction of the stations and they remind me how much they are moved every year.
